Drug Addicts Rehabilitated Persons & Social Reintegration

A few months back under the Drug-Free Peshawar campaign, the district administration along with other stakeholders apprehended 1200 plus drug addicts including 13 females from different parts of the provincial capital, and found 143 positives of HIV-AIDS and other fatal diseases.

Commissioner, Peshawar in a meeting told the participants that the task is “huge and difficult” but they have a firm belief to achieve the target of making the provincial capital free of drug addicts and making them useful members of society.

However, drug addicts were shifted to rehabilitated centers for treatment. Rehabilitated centers include Al-Khidmat Foundation, Dost Foundation, Da Haq Awaz, and Care Center. These centers have played a vital role in the recovery of these drug-addicted persons.

Today, after three months of treatment of drug addicts a social reintegration ceremony of rehabilitated persons under Drugs Free Peshawar, 20022 was arranged by District Administration Peshawar.

In the ceremony rehab, people performed melodies and sang songs, and recorded the national anthem.

We are pleased that 1200 + people are recovered and returning to their families today, thanks to the campaign, 800 people who were missing for many years and their families were disappointed as they thought they were dead, are now safe and healthy and joining their families.
