As 2022 draws to a close, it makes us wonder what the future holds for us. There have been several technological advances in recent years, such as the emergence of 5G and the Internet of Things (IoT), and the COVID era has spawned many other breakthrough innovations, especially in the area of information technology. Examples of such technologies include online shopping, robotic deliveries, digital and contactless payments, telemedicine services, and so on. The important role that technology has played throughout history has been in the advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) development, emergence, and improvement in many areas. From smart assistants like Siri to marketing chatbots, artificial intelligence has evolved since its inception. The use of artificial intelligence has proven very useful in collecting data too large for humans to monitor. From a futuristic perspective, AI still has a long way to go before it improves the quality of life, expands the workforce, and more importantly creates new forms of entertainment and business.
In this article, I’ll try to mention some technology trends that may or may not
impact you in 2023.
Blockchain technology is Currently mainly used in the financial sector, but
in the future, it is expected to be applied in other sectors such as healthcare,
government, and education. Blockchain can also be used to store non-financial data
such as medical records using artificial intelligence.
Providing healthcare in this way can make delivery safer, more reliable, and more
affordable. The application of blockchain technology has the potential to revolutionize
the way we look at digital assets and fuel the consumer boom. Several Nigerian blockchain
developers, such as Mobirevo and Intelia, have already integrated them into their
systems.
Metaverse
(augmented and virtual reality) This consists
of both virtual and augmented reality or AR/VR. Virtual reality is now an important
part of the gaming industry, but it is expected to have a major impact on other
industries as well. Among these are the fields of architecture, engineering, and
the healthcare, education, and transportation industries. As VR and AR evolve, they
have the potential to transform organizations and even blur the lines between virtual
and real environments.
There may
be a better way to hold meetings than Zoom meetings via virtual or augmented reality.
An example of this type of future can be seen in the first minutes of the 2014 movie
Kingsman. Additionally, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies
are expected to be available by 2023. These technologies are used not only in the
entertainment industry but also in business and education.
Wifi-6 and 5G With the introduction of this technology, the use of Wi-Fi
will theoretically be able to offer higher speeds compared to previous Wi-Fi generations,
so it will be significantly expanded in the future. Its speed can reach up to 9.6
Gbps on a wireless connection. Affordability is also expected to be a factor in
development. 5G and Wi-Fi 6 are designed to work seamlessly together, and the wireless
industry seems to be preparing for a future where devices can roam securely and
flawlessly between all kinds of wireless networks. It is currently used by adults
and will be used by children shortly.
Bionic Ear
Implementation Sometimes called cochlear implants,
these implants are currently used in adults and are expected to be used in children
shortly. The implementation of Bionic Ear needs to be done by 2023. The implant
aims not only to provide hearing aids but also to make it easier for people with
hearing impairments to use headphones and other hearing aids. Hearing implants are
undoubtedly an effective way to reduce the stigma of being deaf or hard of hearing.
In recent years, the importance of sustainability in our world has become more and
more apparent. Energy-efficient and environmentally friendly technologies are at
the forefront in all areas. Advances in technology have enabled higher levels of
productivity and efficiency. The use of renewable energy sources such as solar energy
has reduced power costs for those who use them and has benefited the environment.
As we continue to evolve, it is imperative to spotlight sustainable technologies
to ensure green jobs.
Quantum Computing According to McKinsey, quantum computing is “a new technology
that uses the laws of quantum mechanics to achieve exponentially higher performance.
a certain class of quantum computers
that might be essential to resolving the climate issue. Indeed, technology that
global businesses and governments can use. As technology has evolved in ways beyond
our comprehension, we cannot yet determine the limits of its application. Intriguingly,
the contemporary industrial revolution that we are witnessing has produced a vast
array of cutting-edge technologies that have had, and continue to have, a significant
impact on numerous industries all over the world.
Finally, as
change is constant and time waits for no one, national organizations such as Nigerian
VRARA, NCAIR, and even the Nigerian Government have taken steps to help Nigeria
benefit from these trends.
